4-H Announces 2024 Art Show Winners
Cape May Court House – Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program announced the winners of the 3rd Annual Art Show held during the 2024 4-H Fair. The Art Show, that was open to the public, included artwork from adults and children in a variety of mediums.
The theme of the art show was Oh, the Places We Will Go with 4-H. The contest submissions were on display in the 4-H Lockwood Youth Center and were judged by the public during the 4-H Fair, July 18 through the 20, 2024.
And the winners are… In the adult division: Melissa Mathis took first place with her painting in acrylic titled, “Heaven Gains an Angel.” In the children’s division: 1st place went to Savannah Wagner, age 9, for her painting, “Mountain View,” and 2nd place was awarded to 11-year-old James Carr Jr. for his oil painting, “Moonlight Train Ride.”
In the theme category, 9-year-old Sasha Hamann, a member of the Canvas and Brush 4-H Art Club, won in the children’s division for his Dr. Seuss inspired piece created with colored pencils, “The Adventure Begins.” In the adult division, of the theme category, the winners are Kyle and Eugene Zebrowski for their piece titled, “Going Places with 4-H.”
First place winners received a cash prize, and other winners received a gift pack. Dana Barry, leader of the Canvas and Brush 4-H Art Club and Coordinator of the Art Show at the 4-H Fair, said, “I want to thank everyone who entered this year’s contest. We were pleased with the increased number of entries and will continue to work to grow submissions even more for next year.”
