Cape May County 4-Her Samantha Rose Downes Represents County at the 2020 New Jersey State Agricultural Convention

Cape May Court House - The New Jersey State Agricultural Youth Ambassadors Reception was held Wednesday, February 5, as part of the New Jersey State Agricultural Convention in Atlantic City. Samantha Rose Downes, 2019 Outstanding 4-H Member Senior and a member of the Needle & Thread 4-H Club and the Teen Ambassadors 4-H club represented the Cape May County Board of Agriculture and the 4-H Youth Development Program with an exhibit on beach plum agriculture in Cape May County.

Samantha introduced convention delegates and attendees to the growing importance of the beach plum in Cape May County agriculture and carried out a beach plum taste test during the event. Additionally, Samantha attended the convention awards banquet and was recognized along with other New Jersey agriculture related youth ambassadors for their contributions.

The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station and Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth grades K–13 on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, natural origin, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
