Cape May Court House – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold the workshopSeed Starting 101 on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Courthouse – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
The presenter will be Jen Sawyer Caraballo, ANR County Program Associate for Commercial Agriculture, RCE Cape May County. Caraballo said, “We saw an uptick in requests on information for home gardening during the past few years here at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County.”
Participants of Seed Starting 101, part of the Garden & Grow workshop series, will learn the basics of seed starting, when to start seeds indoors, how to select equipment, and seedling care. Also, everyone who attends the presentation will receive a seed starter kit to take home.
“Not all vegetable or flower varieties are available as plants, so starting your garden from seed gives you more varieties to choose from and can be more economical than buying only started plants. Plus, growing your own plants can be a very satisfying endeavor,” added Sawyer Caraballo.
This is a beginner class; therefore, no experience is needed. The cost to attend is $10 and snacks and drinks will be provided. Pre-register and pay at https://go.rutgers.edu/y0n5y5d4.
