Cape May Court House – Ten Cape May County 4-H teens attended 4-H Winter Camp at L.G. Cook 4-H Camp in Stokes State Forest on January 12, 13, and 14, 2024. Cape May County 4-H members in grades 8 through one year out of high school participated in the fun learning experience with 4-H members from other counties in New Jersey. Representing Cape May County at 4-H Winter Camp were Julianna Romano, Eddie Hoover, Emma Gotwols, Autumn Richards, Amelia Worthington, Rainbow McAtee, Val Snyder, Marcos Hortal, Patrick Schalick, and Chloe Frame. Adult 4-H volunteers Juli Schalick and Ross Unkle served as chaperones.
Winter Teen 4-H weekends are an amazing experience where teens from different counties come together and have a fun weekend. Since the camp was founded in 1951, 4-H teen groups have come to enjoy the snow and each other’s company. Linda Horner, Cape May County 4-H Program Coordinator, said, “I want to thank our volunteer chaperones, Juli Schalick and Ross Unkle, for safely shepherding Cape May County 4-H teens through a great weekend at beautiful LG Cook 4-H Camp. The camp is always a great experience for our 4-H teens. They have the opportunity to get away with their 4-H friends and make new friends with 4-H’ers from around the state while enjoying fun winter activities.”
