Cape May Court House, NJ – Rutgers Cooperative Extension Family and Community Health Sciences Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group will hold a meeting on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey. The building is handicap accessible.
Guest Speaker Lisa Haya, LSCW, Vice President, Child and Family Services, Ascenda Health, will present the program, “Understanding Child Behavior and Positive Parenting.” The talk will focus on understanding why children may react to situations with specific behaviors and how to recognize those behaviors through positive parenting strategies.
Chris Zellers, MMP, Family and Community Health Sciences Educator/Assistant Professor, oversees the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program that meets 10 months each year providing information and support to Cape May County grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
New families are always welcome at the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group. Upcoming meetings in 2024 will include programs on wellness, wills and guardianship, and social wellness activities.
Childcare will be provided for the grandchildren and a light supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. with the program following at 6 p.m. There is no charge to attend, however, advanced registration is required by February 16, 2024.
