Cape May Court House – Join in the fun and help the environment too! The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program is partnering with New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors to present a Microplastics Sifter Workshop and a Beach Clean-up in March and April 2025. These events are open to the public – you don’t have to be a member of 4-H to attend.
The Microplastics Sifter Workshop will take place on Sunday, March 30 from 1 to 3 pm at the Lockwood 4-H Youth Center, 355 Court House – South Dennis Road, CMCH, NJ 08210. The presenters will be Donna Griebau, 4-H Program Associate, Cape May County 4-H and Courtney Lacombe, AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador, Watershed Management Area (WMA) 16, Cape May Watersheds.
Participants will learn about Microplastics, how they affect the environment, and how to build a beach sand sifter to use to clean a local beach. “Microplastics can be harmful to the fish and other wildlife. By participating in this workshop, you will learn how you can help reduce this risk,” said Griebau.
The Beach Clean-Up will take place on April 12 as part of 4-H Community Service Day. The location and time will be announced at the Microplastics Workshop. You must attend the Microplastics Workshop to participate at the beach clean-up. 4-H members who attend will earn 4-H community service hours.
The events are free; however, registration is required. To register, contact Donna at the Cape May County 4-H Office at 609-465-5115, ext. 3617 or email donna.griebau@rutgers.edu.
