Cape May Court House – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold the workshop Harvesting, Preserving, and Extending the Season on Wednesday, June 18 from 6:30 to 8pm at Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
This is the fourth workshop in the 2025 series, Start Your Gardens: Vegetable Gardening from start to finish. The series includes everything you need to know about starting a vegetable garden from planning & planting to harvesting.
The presenters are Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County’s Jen Sawyer Caraballo, ANR Program Associate and Anneliese Kuemmerle, MS, RDN, Program Associate II, Department of Family and Community Health Sciences. “Our first three classes discussed garden planning, soil health, seed starting, and the best practices for planting and caring for their new vegetable gardens. In June, participants will learn about harvesting, preserving, and extending the season. The goal is to set our participants up for a successful growing season,” said Sawyer Caraballo
Participants in the Harvesting, Preserving & Extending the Season class will learn when to harvest, ways to use their vegetables, storage methods, planting cold hardy crops, using row covers and hoop houses, and getting a jump on spring planting and harvesting.
