Cape May Court House – Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program announced the winners of the 4th Annual Art Show held during the 2025 4-H Fair. The Art Show, that was open to the public, included thirty-one entries received from adults and children in a variety of mediums.
The contest submissions were on display in the 4-H Lockwood Youth Center and were judged by the public during the 4-H Fair, July 17 through the 19, 2025. The first-place winners in both the adult and children’s divisions received a cash prize. Dana Barry, leader of the Canvas and Brush 4-H Art Club and Coordinator of the Art Show at the 4-H Fair, said, “We were very excited to have more than 550 votes tallied in the public voting box during the 4-H Fair…the most votes ever cast.”
And the winners are…In the adult division: Valerie Akeret took first place with her work in colored pencils titled, “Dragon.” In the children’s division: First place went to Hannah Oechsle, age 15, for her work, “Frog”, also created with colored pencils.

The 4-H Youth Development program is part of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station and Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H educational programs are offered to all youth, grades K-13, on an age-appropriate basis, without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
