Cape May Court House – The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program’s Dog Fun Day held on the 4-H Fairgrounds on September 21, 2025, was a huge success sparking interest in creating a new 4-H Dog Club.
Over 125 people with an estimated 75 dogs attended the first ever 4-H Dog Fun Day. The free event included a 1-mile dog fun walk, demonstrations, a variety of vendors, food trucks, contests, and more. Vendors included Made by Real Hands, Hound Wagging Dog Treats, pony rides and petting zoo by Edge of the Woods Farm, and Happy Daisy Face Painting. Food trucks on hand included Zestie Bestie and Beef and Buns.
The public enjoyed watching demonstrations and participating at activity stations such as the canine good citizen program, dog agility demonstrations, seeing eye dog demonstrations, rally dog obedience course, pet photos, dog fun show and costume contest, and the blender bike station with pup cups manned by the Cape May County 4-H Teen Ambassadors Club.
“Because of the great turnout and interest in this event, we are developing a new 4-H Youth Dog Club to start in 2026,” said Donna Griebau, 4-H Program Associate for Cape May County.
The 4-H Dog Club will be open to youth in kindergarten and up who are interested in learning about dogs. The club will teach members about dog breeds, how to train their pets in basic skills such as walking with a leash and more. “We are excited about the club and looking for adult volunteers as well as members to join the club,” Added Griebau. If you want more information or are interested in joining the club, call Donna at 609-465-5115, ext. 3617.
