Learn About Seed Starting for Vegetables and Herbs at Rutgers Cooperative Extension
Cape May Court House – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold the workshopSeed Starting: Vegetables and Herbs on Tuesday, March 31 from 6 to 8pm at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
The presenter will be Jen Sawyer Caraballo, ANR Program Associate II, RCE Cape May County.
Participants of Seed Starting Herbs & Vegetables, part of the Garden & Grow workshop series, will learn the basics of seed starting, when to start seeds indoors, how to select equipment, and seedling care. They will learn a bit about growing herbs for teas and growing common garden vegetables. Also, everyone who attends the presentation will sow their own seed starter kit to take home. Caraballo said, “The herbs in the program will include borage, lavender, lemon balm, and sage. Plus, we will discuss the tomato, peppers, and Swiss chard.”
“Not all varieties of herbs and vegetables are available as plants, so starting your garden from seed gives you more varieties to choose from and can be more economical than buying only started plants. Plus, growing your own plants can be a very satisfying endeavor,” added Sawyer Caraballo.
This is a beginner class; therefore, no experience is needed. The cost to attend is $15. Pre-register and pay at https://go.rutgers.edu/9ii4ngsx.
