Cape May Court House – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources will host the workshop, “Growing Mushrooms at Home: Life after your Grow-at-Home Kit,” on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Courthouse – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
This workshop is part of the 2024 Garden & Grow series. The goal of the series is to teach locals how to improve or expand their home gardens in new ways.
Did you have success with a mushroom grow at home kit and now you want to dive deeper into the Myco-verse? The hands-on class will cover various growing methods, including setting up a small “Martha” or indoor greenhouse, log inoculation, tub and bucket grows. The presenter will be Lin Conover, Owner of Wood Song Mushrooms and grower of gourmet mushrooms including Oyster Mushrooms and Reishi since 2017.
Join Conover to explore how to set up and maintain a culinary mushroom grow for your family or homestead. “My interest in growing mushrooms was spurred on by the value of mushrooms as an alternative protein source and their many health benefits,” said Conover.
The cost to attend is $20. This is an overview of intermediate level growing techniques. Some basic mushroom growing knowledge is helpful, but all are welcome. However, the class is limited to 15 participants and registration in advance is required, no walk-ins will be taken.
