Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) of Cape May County Family & Community Health Sciences and Agriculture & Natural Resources Departments will present the workshop, Eat What You Grow: Summer Session, on June 11 from 6:30 to 8 pm and June 12 from 1 to 2:30 pm at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Court House-South Dennis Road, CMCH, NJ 08210.
The program is the third workshop offered as part of the 2025 Eat What You Grow four-part seasonal series offered in both the evening and daytime through October 2025.
The presenters are RCE of Cape May County’s Anneliese Kuemmerle, MS, RDN, FCHS Program Associate II and Jen Sawyer Caraballo, ANR Program Associate II, “This series is a fantastic collaboration where we can share with attendees not only how to grow fresh fruits and vegetables, but what to do with their harvests – whether cooking, eating fresh or preserving,” said Sawyer Caraballo.
The classes focus on seasonal vegetables and fruits, giving participants nutritional information and preparation ideas while teaching about growing tasty produce in a home garden. Participants attending either June session will learn how and when to harvest, how to extend the garden season, preserving food to avoid waste, and quick and easy balanced summer meals and snacks. Plus, there will be a food demonstration on making the Tabbouleh Salad.
The public is invited to sign up for individual classes at $10 per class. To register for the June 11 class, go to https://go.rutgers.edu/cgajzlyr. To register for the June 12 class, go to https://go.rutgers.edu/jq6ek6z.
