Cape May Court House – Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold the workshop Winter Sowing: Native Plants on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, from 6 to 8pm at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
The presenter will be Jen Sawyer Caraballo, ANR Program Associate II, Cape May County. This workshop will teach participants the basics of winter sowing, when to start seeds, how to select equipment, and care of seedlings. Also, participants will receive native seeds to take home to sow.
“Many native plant seeds need to go through cold striation, so winter sowing is an easy way to allow nature to do the work for you,” said Sawyer Caraballo.
The cost to attend is $15. This is a beginner class; therefore, no experience is needed, however, preregistration is required at https://go.rutgers.edu/3shf3wfr.
